What is the formula for sodium fluoride

The formula of the chemical compound

The chemical formula for sodium fluoride is NaF.
Sodium fluoride is an inorganic compound composed of the elements sodium and fluorine, where sodium shows a positive monovalent and fluorine shows a negative monovalent.
Its molecular weight of 41.9882.

The formula of preparation

Sodium fluoride can be prepared industrially by a variety of methods, including the melt leaching method, the hydrofluoric acid neutralization method, the ammonium fluoride soda ash method, and the sodium fluosilicate soda ash method, with the following reaction equations:

Fusion leaching method:

Calcine the fluorite, soda ash, and quartz sand at high temperature (about 900℃) first. Then goes with the processes leach with water, evaporating, crystallization and drying, to get the finished product.
The formula to getting the sodium fluoride is:

CaF2 + Na2CO3 + SiO2 → 2NaF + CaSiO3 + CO2

Hydrofluoric acid neutralization method:

Sodium fluoride is produced by neutralizing hydrofluoric acid with soda ash or caustic soda.
The steps include adding 40% hydrofluoric acid to the reactor, and slowly adding soda ash or caustic soda to neutralize until the reaction solution is neutral. Then the product is obtained by crystallization, centrifugal dehydration and drying.
The formula is:

Na2CO3 + 2HF → 2NaF + H2O + CO2

Ammonium Fluoride Soda Ash Method:

Dissolve soda ash and ammonium fluoride separately and mix them proportionally, heat them up to 300°C and stir them until ammonia is removed.
The reaction formula is:

Na2CO3 + 2NH4F → 2NaF + CO2 + 2NH3

Sodium Fluorosilicate Soda Ash Method:

This method could produce colorless crystalline sodium fluoride by reacting soda ash with sodium fluorosilicate.
The formula is:

2Na2CO3 + Na2SiF6 → 6NaF + 2CO2 + SiO2

Above are the formulas related to sodium fluoride. It is an ionic compound. The sodium fluoride uses are of wide range due to the F it contains.
